In the example above, while writing the stroke RAO a finger was dragged over the asterisk key causing a shadow.

The extremely light red color of the asterisk tells us that the asterisk was very lightly depressed and most likely unintentional.

• Enhanced Keyboard To simplify editing, running macros, and issuing commands from the writer, we’ve added two special keys to the left side of the keyboard that can be used alone or in combination with other keys – much like Ctrl, Alt, and Shift on a standard keyboard. And because they’re recessed, you’ll never know they’re there until you need them.
• To support expanded steno theories, the asterisk key and the initial “S” have been separated into two keys so you will be able to define them separately and in combination – or continue to use them in the traditional manner.  Traditional linked “S” and asterisk keys are also available for those who prefer them.
• The Passport features a “soft” landing at the bottom of the keystroke, increasing comfort and reducing shock.A revolutionary linked number bar eliminates the uncomfortable “ridge” effect when the depth of stroke is adjusted.
• To make “bridging” more comfortable with wide keys, the Passport’s keys are slightly less concave than the keys on traditional writers.
• To reduce the fatigue and strain associated with “wrist twist” when the vowels are used, all keys are in the same plane.
• Key placement reduces the fatigue and strain associated with “wrist twist,” while providing a more relaxed writing position.
