eVerbatim General Policies & Procedures

 By placing your order with eVerbatim you agree to the following terms and conditions.  Understanding of our Privacy Policy is also implied, which can be found by following the link at the bottom of any page on our website.

 

 Hardware Payments, Refunds, Cancellations and Exchanges


Payment for any hardware purchased from eVerbatim may be by credit card (Visa, MC, Discover, or American Express), approved purchase order (government agencies only), cashier’s check, or money order.  eVerbatim will accept personal checks but we must wait five to seven banking days for them to clear before shipping and we cannot accept them for COD orders.  When ordering online the only payment method currently accepted is major credit cards.  Your credit card information is NOT retained in any of our systems at any time, pursuant to our Privacy Policy which can be found by following the link at the bottom of any page on our website.  Rebates (if any) are offered by participating manufacturers only.  eVerbatim is not responsible for any part of the rebate redemption process.

Customers may cancel their order up until the product is shipped with the exception of special order devices in general, including special-order stenographic writers or special-order computers, as well as computers that have been custom configured for the client prior to receiving notice of cancellation. In those cases, the cancellation is subject to our 20% restocking fee. In all other cases, if you have paid with a credit card and it has been charged, you will forfeit the credit card processing fees charged to eVerbatim (4%). Merchant processing and transactions fees are non-refundable to us and are thus charged when a customer cancels an order after we have processed the credit card. If you place an order with us and request to send in a personal check, we will honor that request. However, if the check is returned you will also be responsible for a $35 returned check fee.

Computers sold through eVerbatim have a limited return or exchange grace period of 10 days after receipt of the system.  The 10-day period begins on either the day your package was delivered or the date you picked up your system at our office, whichever is applicable.  If you are not satisfied with your system within this 10-day period you may return the system to us for a refund or exchange.  The returned system must be in brand new condition for the return to be accepted and must include all original packaging, manuals, CDs and accessories that were sent to you.  If we receive the system in question in anything less than this condition, or with any items missing, we reserve the right to deny said refund/exchange and will return the system to you.

In the event that a computer is returned, the customer is responsible for all shipping charges.  Any refunds issued will be net of our 20% restocking fee as well as shipping and handling costs paid by eVerbatim. Once you purchase a custom ordered computer it cannot be returned or exchanged.

Customers must obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA#) from eVerbatim within the appropriate time frame to receive a timely replacement or refund. To obtain an RMA#, call us at 800-377-1525.  Returned merchandise must be received by us within 10 business days after we issue the RMA#.

 

 Warranties


Each product is packaged with the manufacturer's warranty and service information detailing their specific terms and conditions.  Please read this information carefully. We encourage you to complete the warranty form (if applicable) and to send it to the manufacturer.   eVerbatim does not warranty your hardware directly, although we do offer to help you through the warranty service process on some items purchased from us.

Lenovo computers purchased through eVerbatim carry at least a one- year warranty from Lenovo. You can obtain warranty service from them by contacting their support line at 800-426-7834 and choosing option 72.  Computer warranties, by default, do not cover damage to the LCD screen or the customized load we provide.  In the event of a system failure resulting in the need to reload your computer, Lenovo will restore your computer to manufacturer’s standard Windows load if you are within your warranty term.  If you wish your computer returned to the state in which you purchased it from eVerbatim (which includes our custom load and services) normal labor rates will apply.  If you need help, or don’t know who to contact about warranty service, feel free to contact us and a staff member will direct you to the proper contact.

If you purchased your hardware through eVerbatim and you are having any difficulty with your equipment, you should contact the original equipment manufacturer.  If you are confused as to whether you have a hardware problem, you can contact  eVerbatim at (800) 377-1525.  Do not contact Advantage Software, Inc., Stenograph, or any other CAT vendor for support regarding hardware purchased from eVerbatim.  If possible, we will assist you with the manufacturer's technical support and warranty service procedures. If we are not available—this occurs because we are often out in the field—you should always contact the manufacturer directly and inform us afterwards of your action(s), the return merchandise authorization number, etc.  We will do our best assist you with the remedial procedures but we don't make our own hardware so, ultimately, the responsibility for repair or service resides with the original manufacturer.  However, we do our best to select brands and products that are durable, reliable and serviceable because we realize how dependent court reporters are on these devices. We also strongly recommend that you purchase all additional warranties offered by the equipment manufacturers.  These upgrades and/or extensions are usually very reasonably priced and the protection is well worth the expense.

 

Software Refunds & Exchanges


Software Refunds, where applicable, are subject to a 20% restocking fee.  Out-of-pocket expenses such as sales commissions and training (both of which are provided by independent contractors), shipping, group discounts (if any), and elapsed technical support, will also be deducted.  Eclipse CAT Software cannot be returned without first obtaining a Return Merchandise Authorization number from Advantage Software.  To obtain an RMA number you must contact Advantage Software directly at (800) 800-1759.   Please note that eVerbatim does not directly approve software refunds or issue RMA numbers for Advantage Software products.

 efund policies for stenographic writers are determined directly by the writer manufacturer and not eVerbatim.  These policies are determined by the manufacturer and are listed on their sites.  If you need to find out information on a specific writer's refund/exchange policy, please contact that manufacturer directly.

 All refunds, regardless to how the product(s) were initially purchased, will be issued by a company check within 7 to 10 days of the receipt of the returned product and mailed to the person listed on the billing section of the order.

It is strongly recommended that you keep your original box and packaging.  Warranty repairs, even those with expedited service, require a box approved for shipping.  If you don’t have the manufacturer’s original packaging, the warranty provider may have to ship you a suitable box.  This will protract the repair interval by the amount of time required for the replacement box to be shipped to you.

 

CAT Software Purchases


If you are purchasing CAT Software (Total Eclipse, AccuCap, Bridge, or SearchMaster), that software was developed and/or provided by Advantage Software, Inc. (ASI), a Florida corporation, and sold to you by eVerbatim, Inc., a Maryland corporation, the authorized agent for Advantage Software products in your area.  If you have a current software support agreement, you should direct any technical support questions regarding these programs to ASI by calling them toll-free at (800) 800-1759.  Free telephone support is provided during days and times specified in your License Agreement.

The purchase of the Total Eclipse CAT program and AccuCap includes a printed manual, an electronic manual, an interactive tutorial, one year of toll-free telephone support, and free program updates and upgrades.  If personal training, group training, training certificates, or any other type of training are provided as part of the purchase price, it will be stipulated on the Order Form.  Personal training is provided by a certified trainer and is arranged by appointment.  Customers receiving personal on-site training are required to pay any out-of-pocket expenses such as mileage, airfare or motel.  Any parking fees or commuting costs (subway fares or tolls) are to be paid by the trainee.

Calls for Eclipse/AccuCap technical support are to be directed to Advantage Software, Inc. at (800) 800-1759.  If you would like to purchase additional program support services from eVerbatim, it is available on a per call basis at $95 per hour, chargeable in 15-minute increments to Visa, MasterCard. American Express or Discover.  However, if you purchased any value-added services (such custom block files) from us and/or if you purchased your hardware from us, and are having a problem with it, or have a question about either, you can call us as the need occurs.

 

 Shipping Note


All laptops, steno writers, and other items with a value exceeding $150 are shipped with a signature required. If you wish to waive the signature requirement, you must do so at your own risk, assuming all responsibility for any parcels that are missing after delivery.

By placing and accepting an order, eVerbatim customers acknowledge acceptance of these terms.
